The students who struggled were rarely the least capable.
After teaching Level 3 for many years, I noticed the same pattern again and again. The students who struggled weren't usually the least capable. More often, they simply weren't sure how to approach the material.

Questions about Level 3 Prep.
No. Level 3 Blueprint, Level 3 Prep, and Level 3 Prep Live are independent study resources created by Joanne Close, DipWSET to complement the official WSET Level 3 Award in Wines course. They are designed to help you prepare more effectively before, during, or after your studies, but they are not a substitute for the official course, textbook, or the independent study required to prepare for the examination.
Level 3 Prep is self-paced study. You work through the modules independently, whenever it suits you.
Level 3 Prep Live includes everything in Level 3 Prep, plus a guided 12-week coaching cohort. You get a weekly study plan, six live coaching sessions with Joanne, placement into a dedicated study group, weekly accountability, and the complete Wine Educate Level 3 Flashcards.
Prep Live is limited to 20 participants and only opens during enrollment periods.
The membership is intentionally designed to help you focus rather than feel overwhelmed. At any one time, you'll have access to six carefully selected study modules, including regular coverage of Sparkling and Fortified Wines, as these feature prominently in the Level 3 exam.
Each month, one module is retired and a new module is introduced, giving you fresh content while keeping your studies focused and manageable.

While I'll share strategies for preparing for the tasting portion of the exam and explain what the examiners are looking for, we will not be tasting wines together during these courses. There are no required wine purchases to participate.
