Why this exists
The students who struggled were rarely the least capable.
After teaching Level 3 for many years, I noticed the same pattern again and again. The students who struggled weren't usually the least capable. More often, they were overwhelmed by the amount of material and weren't sure how to pull it all together.
That's why I created Level 3 PREP. It gives you another way to work with the material: breaking down difficult topics, connecting the concepts, checking your understanding, and practicing the kind of thinking you'll need for the exam.

I've spent years teaching WSET students at every level, and Level 3 remains one of my favorite courses to teach. It's also the level where students often realize that simply knowing the facts isn't enough. You need to understand how those facts connect and be able to apply what you know.
That's how I teach, and it's how I've built Level 3 PREP. My goal isn't to give you more information to memorize. It's to help you make sense of the material you already need to know and give you practical ways to study, practice and prepare.

No. Level 3 PREP is an independent Wine Educate study resource designed to complement the official WSET Level 3 Award in Wines course. It does not replace the official course, WSET study materials, or the independent study required to prepare for the examination.
No. You can use PREP before your Level 3 course begins, alongside your course, while preparing for the exam, or while studying for a resit.
If you're starting early, PREP can help you build a foundation before class begins. If you're already studying, you can move through the resources in the order that is most useful to you.
Not at all. PREP is designed so you can use the resources wherever you are in your Level 3 studies. You don't have to begin at Module 1 or follow a fixed schedule. You can go directly to the topics and practice that are most useful to you right now.
Yes. PREP gives you another way to work with the theory, identify gaps in your knowledge, and practice retrieving and applying what you know. The Learning Checks, quizzes and Short Written Answer practice can be particularly useful when preparing for a resit.
Yes. You do not need to be enrolled in a Wine Educate Level 3 course to use PREP. The resources are designed to support students studying for the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines regardless of where they are taking their course.
No. The official WSET Level 3 textbook and study materials are not included with PREP. If you're already enrolled in a Level 3 course, you may already have received your WSET study materials from your course provider.
If you need the official Level 3 textbook, you can order it separately through Wine Educate.
